The Chavys have been in Puligny for nearly 200 years, yet it was not until 1986 that the domaine began to bottle its own wine. Previously all was sold off in bulk to negociants.  Today this benchmark domaine is run by Jean-Louis Chavy and is one of the best in Puligny. Jean-Louis has a clutch of different Puligny 1er Crus, all of which vividly demonstrated the difference between their respective terroir.  Jean-Louis himslelf is extremely modest yet it is eminently clear that he has Puligny running through his veins, with few producers making better wines than these stylish, well-made character full examples.  He aims for a style that is neither overtly fruit-driven nor oak-based.  His wines emphasise the mineral notes of Puligny and are models of finesse and elegance.
