Domaine de Chaude EcuelleFor several generations the Vilain family has been cultivating vineyards and making wine in Chablis, respecting the family tradition of the Domaine. The Domaine de Chaude Ecuelle (meaning "hot bowl") owes its name to the tradition of vineyard workers warming up their meals in terra-cotta bowls out in the vineyards. This became tradition because many of the Estate's vineyard plots were located at a distance from the Domaine itself, as is often the case in Burgundy. The pursuit of quality remains more than ever the priority of the Vilain family. Respecting the environment and carrying out traditional vineyard management and wine-making techniques are essential elements enabling the Domaine to produce wines which fully reflect the specific Chablis terroir.
