Pioneers in the Napa Valley, the Trefethen family are champions of estate grown wines. For three generations, they have carefully tended to their land, employees, and customers, building a loyal following for their legacy of fine, age-worthy wines with a deep integrity of place. Their estate vineyards are wholly contained within the Oak Knoll District of Napa Valley (OKD for short) which is one of Napa’s sixteen recognized sub-regions and one of the coolest regions of the Napa Valley. Located near the southern end of the valley, close to San Pablo Bay, vineyards here benefit from a uniquely mild climate and diverse soils.
Produced using the estate fruit that is leftover from their main bottling, Double T delivers the quality we know and expect from Trefethen, thanks to their prime location at the cool end of Napa Valley and the amazing 2016 vintage. This makes the Trefethen Double T excellent value for an outstanding Napa Red. Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot provide the backbone for this lovely blend. Malbec brings color, red fruit characters and a hint of floral. Merlot adds a lively spice and herbal character with Cabernet Franc offering finesse and a peppery perfume. Aromas of lush, summer blackberries, brambly cassis, complemented by white pepper, clove, and baking spices are framed by sweet vanilla oak. Juicy, ripe, black cherry and blackberry flavours excite the palate, and the wine finishes long, wrapped in cedar, cinnamon, and clove.
