Pion “Le Meilleur du Vin” represents more than 300 family estates. Oliver and Christian Pion decided after sixty years of distributing wines for others, to become winemakers themselves. In doing so, they wish to transmit their family values through the production of an eponym range of fine Burgundy wines. After some trials with the 2012 vintage, the assortment named “Racines Croisées” (Crossed Roots) was launched in autumn 2014 with the 2013 vintage. The goal of this production is to offer a refined selection of vine parcels predominately located in the Côte d’Or, with flawless quality and an affordable price point for the consumer.
GEVREY-CHAMBERTIN is in contestably one of the best known appellations on the Côte de Nuits, the village being home to nine of the 33 Grand Cru wines in Burgundy. Producing exclusively red wines, the first mention of the village dates back to the year 630 under the name of Gibriacus in the chronicles of the Abbey of Bèze. The village AOC covers 355 hectares.
