Juan Jesus Valdelana's winery is in the picturesque village El Ciego,
where his family has been making wine since the late 19th century.
El Ciego is located on the northern side of the river Ebro,in the northwest
region of Rioja known as Rioja Alavesa.
The winery is built over underground stone cellars that date back to the
16th century and are today still used to age their wines, there is also
a museum displaying an impressive collection of artifacts used in the
development of viticulture in the area.
Juan Jesús Valdelana's are truly superb, well-balanced and complex.
