Riversleigh Estate
"By Morgan to Marlborough!" is how Kotare Wines viticulturist Bruce Stapleton describes his arrival in New Zealand; in 1993 the sports car enthusiast had driven his 1969 Plus Eight Morgan 12,000 miles in the London Sydney Marathon: Following a visit to neighbouring New Zealand and a little encouragement by, now business partner, Geoffrey Sprot, Kotare Wines evolved.
Unique and distinct are two words for Kotare Wines, made with grapes from a single vineyard in Marlborough, now the main region of New Zealand.
Kotare wines are made by the Riversleigh Estate, their Kotare label honours the Maori name for the sacred Kingfisher, a native bird attracted to Gibsons creek which runs throughout their 86 acre vineyard in the Wairau Valley
