Tambourlaine the winery behind Wild Mountain owns the largest certified organic vineyard estate in Australia, covering two estates in the Orange Highlands and Hunter Valley.

For Mark Davidson, switching to organic was a logical progression from the eco-friendly viticultural practices he had always pursued. And much of the inspiration for this eco awareness came 20 years ago when he bought Tamburlaine, "a degraded farm" with shallow, over-cultivated clay soils.

Now the Pokolbin-based managing director of Tamburlaine Wines is both winemaker and vineyard manager, nurturing then processing grapes from his Hunter Valley and Orange vineyards.

Tamburlaine's Hunter Valley and Orange vineyards have been certified fully organic and if all goes well, associated vineyards who grow fruit for us will also be entirely organic within a couple of years.
